Our next Prairies 101 Workshop will be held at the UL Ecology Center, 703 Thoroughbred Drive in Lafayette. Sunday March 16, 1-5pm.
Most of Southwest Louisiana is part of the historic coastal prairie often called the Cajun Prairie. Learn about the critical importance of prairie plants to the ecology, biodiversity and hydrology of the land in our own backyards. After an introduction by prairie ecologist Larry Allain, ANPP volunteers and prairie experts will share their experiences and help you add a little or a lot of prairie to your own property. There will also be a tour of the UL Ecology Center's Prairie Seed Production facility and ANPP's prairie plant propagation activities. Plants, seeds and books will be for sale if you're ready to get started. Refreshments will be served. Capped at 30 registrants. Only one registration needed per household. Registration includes 3 plugs of local ecotype prairie plants.
