ANPP congratulates Suzanne and Gerard Richard of Kaplan for their gold-certified habitat!
Suzanne and Gerard live on several rural acres that are part of a section of land that has been in the family for six generations. Gerard's ancestors moved there in the 1800s from Lafayette to escape the Yellow Fever outbreak. They have elements of prairie, forest, and wetlands on the property. Many acres of undeveloped, undisturbed land have not been touched for decades and are filled with plants and wildlife. After completing the Master Gardener Class in 2022, Suzanne was inspired to focus on what they could do on their property to be better stewards of the land and habitat they live on. She focused on what plants and wildlife live there and how to incorporate recommended garden practices to better protect the habitat. Her big focus is identifying what is already existing on the property. Suzanne and Gerard embrace the learning process and are eager to continue expanding their knowledge, sharing, encouraging, and promoting sustainable habitats!
Thank you for greauxing native, Suzanne and Gerard!
