Rebecca Howard celebrates her bronze-level certification in Lafayette.
ANPP congratulates Rebecca Howard of Lafayette for her bronze-level Louisiana Certified Habitat. Her small lot in the Saints Streets has come a long way since she removed cycads and tropicals and had Bill Fontenot advise her on better natives like Mexican plum and witch hazel trees and beautyberry, buckeye, viburnum, and Turk's cap. She had since added giant coneflower, sweetbay magnolia, native mints, mistflower, penstemons and many other showy forbs. Losing an old water oak some years ago opened up space for a sunny bed now full of good plants for pollinators. Her patio looks out onto a bird paradise.
