Libby and Kim Nehrbass- Bronze Louisiana Certified Habitat

ANPP congratulates Libby and Kim Nehrbass of Lafayette for their Bronze Certified Natural Habitat! Libby and Kim live in an urban neighborhood close to downtown Lafayette where most yards are still dedicated to traditional lawns and popular ornamentals. However, they used to live on the prairie south of Maurice, and there they filled the yard almost exclusively with native Louisiana plants, sourced from surrounding areas. Kim and Libby have always included natives in their landscaping since they moved to town in 1989, but not exclusively, and without a real plan for landscaping. A recent goal has been to shape their property into something that will both support the earth and look attractive enough to neighbors to get them more interested in using natives themselves. Their goal is to eventually have nearly 100% natives, as they recognize the urgency of creating a habitat for all creatures of the earth who now face increased stress with climate change and human overpopulation.

Great job Libby and Kim! Thank you for greauxing native!
