Katy Richard celebrates her gold-level certification in Lafayette.
ANPP congratulates Katy Richard and Chris Hinchliffe of Lafayette for their gold-level Louisiana Certified Habitat. Though they have been on this double lot for over a decade, the last few years Katy has been adding many natives and designing new beds around them. They continue to push back against well established bamboo and ligustrum. In the adjacent lot, they are now mowing only paths as they populate big sections with pollinator favorites: tropical sage, coral honeysuckle, mints, coreopsis, beebalm, Turks cap, penstemons, gaura, irises, buckeye and coneflowers. Many high value trees still dominate the property: oaks, hackberry, black cherry.
