This Cajun Prairie-themed pollinator garden is a bronze-level LCH that was planted by Eric in 2019 when he was a high school student there. He designed and installed the garden with the help of Steve Nevitt. A Prairie Club now maintains it. The land was primarily sugarcane fields before being developed for the school. In 2017, Eric led a 3-acre prairie restoration in the back of the school’s property but students rarely walked all the way there to explore it. So he was inspired to make this pollinator garden in the middle of the school to bring these beautiful and endangered prairie species into the campus for all of the students and faculty to see. The garden was made possible through the Cajun Prairie Habitat Preservation Society, fundraisers at the school, and donations from native plant enthusiasts. Now a landscape architecture major at LSU, Eric has installed two pollinator gardens on the LSU campus.
