ANPP congratulates De Sha Lee of Duson in Lafayette Parish for her Bronze level Louisiana Certified Habitat.
De Sha has been an avid gardener her entire adult life. Her neat vegetable and herb garden is surrounded by plantings and pots that have recently been replaced with natives. Through her volunteer work at the Fightingville Fresh community garden with UL graduate student Andrew Buderi, she learned about the importance of native plants for insect life, which she describes as "a lightbulb" moment. Since then she has replaced a large daylily bed with natives she got from the Lafayette Parish Master Gardeners Association Plant Fest, The Urban Naturalist, and Andrew. She is also looking forward to adding natives used in traditional medicine.
Thanks for greauxing native, De Sha!
