This 100-acre park, formerly known as the Horse Farm, is being planted with predominantly native plants. There are three major Louisiana landscapes reflected in the park: the ravine or gallery forest with older mature trees, the Cajun Prairie, and the wetlands surrounding the pond.
The park has iconic beautiful old live oaks but many new and interesting plantings as well, from the river birches, palmettos, and grasses in the self-filtering area of the parking lot to the new Longleaf Pines and understory plants forming a buffer between the adjacent neighborhood and the Cajun Prairie, to the Bald Cypress and Iris gardens at the pond.
