Cindy Boudreaux - Silver Louisiana Certified Habitat

In 1997, Cindy and her husband bought 11 acres which they thought was a beautiful piece of land planted with rye grass—NOT! It was a wheat field! Immediately, they took advantage of the Louisiana Department of Agriculture & Forestry and now have an abundance of fruit, nut, oak, pine, and cypress trees. In 2003 they had an almost 1/2 acre pond dug and used the excess dirt to make some slight hills. They try to ID pretty or interesting plants on their land which has led to them no longer using lawn weed killers. They now have bird baths, bluebird nest boxes, wood duck nest boxes, and flowering plants for butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds.
